Unlike the 2022 Measure T renewal attempt – which had no expiration date – this renewal will expire in 2047, or 20 years after it begins operation. This ensures that Madera County voters can reassess the measure’s successes in delivering new and improved streets, roads, and highways.
Limited to a 20-year lifespan, not establishing a forever tax
This renewal of Measure T was was developed by 20 Madera County residents, four from each Supervisorial district, who spent six months assessing the successes and failures of the current Measure T to help design a better measure and structure for utilizing our resources to improve transportation in Madera County.
A renewal of Measure T designed for Madera County by Madera County residents
Designed with rock-solid citizen oversight and accountability measures
This measure improves the public education about the investments in Madera County’s transportation infrastructure and also strengthens the Measure T Citizens Oversight Committee to ensure that the people are able to see first-hand where their dollars are going. The measure also requires annual independent audits of expenditures by the County of Madera and cities of Madera and Chowchilla.
Dedicating 80% of funds for local streets and road improvements and maintenance
Unlike the current Measure T, this measure sets aside 80% of funds raised over the 20-year lifespan to help build and maintain local streets and roads in Madera County and the cities of Madera and Chowchilla. Of that percentage, 10 percent is specifically dedicated for transportation infrastructure in disadvantaged community across the county.
Measure T in a Nutshell
Measure T fixes potholes, improves local streets and roads, and helps expand roadways to meet the Madera County's growth, all without raising taxes.
